Thursday, and I skipped Wednesday

Oops...didn't post yesterday...

didn't offer a little Christmas Cheer -

Are we all doing Christmas? I'm managing to pull the reins in and not get in too deep - but still - the season adds extra stuff - well - it draws me in like a "siren's song" - isn't that part of some greek mythology or .... I looked it up... Yep -

In Greek mythology, the Sirens were three dangerous bird-women, portrayed as seductresses, who lived on an island called Anthemoessa.
Sailors who sailed near were compelled by the Sirens' enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast.

Well - for me - Christmas and all its color and opportunity for handmade items and crafts and projects and decorating and giving of gifts and hosting parties - well - I have to be careful to "stay on course".

This year I'm doing good - so far haven't strayed to far off the beaten path. I want to keep it simple and savor the season. Enjoy it - not stress and overdo - I think I'm good so far. Also, it's nice to be available if someone else is sinking a bit, to reach out a hand and pull them up - so - I musn't stay on this blog for too long...

Ask Ann to tell you about Andrew and the removal of his bandages - no, on second thought, don't. Not for the faint of heart. He's a trooper and continues to bounce back after some trauma - laughing all the way.

Here are a few verses of another version of Oh Holy Night - It's named Version 2:

Oh, Holy Night! The stars, their gleams prolonging,
Watch o'er the Eve of our dear Saviour's birth.

Long lay the world in sin and error, longing
for His apperance, then the Spirit felt its worth.

A thrill of hope; the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts we stand by the Babe adored.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
and come now, Shepherds, from your flocks unboard.
The Son of God lay thus w'thin lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our Lord.

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and and His gospel is peace.
Long live His truth, and may it last forever,
For in His name all discordant noise shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.

Think about it.

Long lay the word in sin and error,
Longing for His appearance,
then.....
the spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope!
the WEARY world rejoices,
For YONDER BREAKS a NEW and GLORIOUS MORN!

And the last line of the second verse followed by the chorus -

In all our trials born to be our Lord.
He knows our need, our weakness never lasting,
Behold your King! By Him, let Earth Accord!

So I looked up the word, Accord and this is what it means:
verb (used without object)
1. to be in agreement or harmony; agree.

verb (used with object)
2.to make agree or correspond; adapt.
3.to grant; bestow: to accord due praise.
4.Archaic. to settle; reconcile.

So - that would be:
Behold your King! By Him let Earth be reconciled. It's settled. or The soul can now be in harmony with its creator. Behold Your King!

hey, the sirens are from The Odyssey and the other plays surrounding that one--by Homer. Love those:)

And...have you seen my blog? I also typed out some of the lyrics from O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas song. I love that idea of this hope breaking through in a weary world.

So, I'd gotten pretty behind on reading your blog, but just wanted to say I really enjoyed yours on the art show. I loved reading your perspective of everything. I've also enjoyed all the old pictures, and I can't wait to be home. It will feel much more like Christmas then.
