We Leave Today

and I'm ready to get back,
still, what a nice place!
So I'll continue around the grounds with my pictures - I think the statue below is in memory of a gentlemen who recently died - and he had worked at The Grand Hotel for so many years

Inside the main lobby.

I loved this tree.  The only tree I've ever wanted to actually hug.
Live Oak is certainly a fitting name.

And so we come to the end of our walk around the grounds.

On the first floor is the spa where I would be getting my pedicure and manicure.
That was so very much fun!!

That's it.
Now I have to pack my things and go home.

It's Saturday

and I'm in Point Clear, Alabama
and I've just had a pedicure and a manicure.
Who knew they would offer me two complimentary Mimosas while having the pedicure done?  I didn't know that was part of the package.  They were delightful.
We're staying at The Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama.
I recommend it for R & R.

can't finish this post or the pictures.

We're about to go watch the sun set from a swing which overlooks the bay.

Cute and Funny Car Conversation

Ellie and I were driving in Huntsville.  We'd just left the Salon and we were on our way to Gigi's, driving on Airport Road, right before the intersection of Whitesburg Drive and Airport Road.  We were quiet.  Music was playing.

Then Ellie spoke, quietly, and I turned off the music.  She had to repeat what she'd said 3 times before I could hear her.  Her voice was so quiet today because of the allergies all in her throat.  She was saying to me, "At the Barber Shop you said 'What the Heck' ".  She was calling me on it.  I asked her if that was in the list of things we weren't supposed to say.  She confirmed that it was.   I apologized for it, she forgave me, and I thanked her for pointing it out.  She said, "You're welcome".  A few moments and I was thinking, so I asked, "Ellie, does Mom always remember what she told you not to say?  Does she ever say words like that?"  Ellie said that her Mom never said bad words.  I was impressed.

A little more time.  Quiet.  Then Ellie told me,  "Today Luke said 'Kick my butt' ".  I was amazed.  That's pretty strong.  In my estimation, on the vulgar side, compared to my word, heck.  I asked her if Mom had heard him.  She said that she had, but that she "forgived him".  I nodded in approval.  Forgiveness is always good.

Still more time, I'm thinking, it's quiet, and I ask, "Ellie, where did he learn to say that??"  Immediately she answered....she knew for sure....  from Megamind.  She told me that phrase is used on there.  I knew exactly what she was talking about.  It's an animated movie they've been watching.  It's so funny with funny funny lines.  I just looked and it's rated PG for action and some language.  Apparently "kick my butt" is some of that language.    After that, after she noticed my interest, she told me, "Luke says bad words all the time". Awww.  In Luke's defense, I don't think he knows that many bad words.  Not yet.  In fact, in our family, we've referred to Luke as the Bad Word Police.  So quick to call us on things like 'shoot', 'gosh', and I confess..... 'dang' is my go to bad word.   I do have another but I don't think Luke has heard me say it.  There are some words that Luke has called me on and I'm thinking they're okay.

I love Car Conversations with kids.  So funny.

Monday Night

But I'm still in Scottsboro.
Because of the weather but more because of other things.
Ellie and I did spend the chunk of the day in Huntsville.
We ate at Wendy's.  At 11:00.
We were at Terrame right before our 11:30 appointment.
We had two appointments at 11:30 and 12:45.  Ellie chose for me to go first.  I did.
Below is one of three pictures I showed my stylist of bangs and blunt cuts.  This picture is the one we "went with".

If you are not yet 50 and older, you don't know what it's like to try to find a good cut and still look your age but not typically your age.  How ridiculous I feel to take in a picture of a pretty young thing with a haircut which I think might work for me.  I've googled haircuts for women over 50.  The ones I get?
Well, first I have to sift through all of them to find something that works with my hair type and works with "me".  I always come up with these:

Vanessa Redgrave.  Okay.  I'm perfectly good with this look.  Wrinkled, old, flat, not much to it, long,
and...  go to the next picture....

Pulled back.  Easy, Breezy.
But I'm not sure friends and family are ready for me to take on this look.  VR can get away with it.
Not me.  But it looks really easy and low maintenance.

Okay, here is Helen somebody.  She's really attractive and known for keeping a "good look".
Her hair is thinner than mine and I am not "Hollywood", so I don't have access to
maintenance of "the look".  But I like this and I would like to have this hair.

Of course here is Diane Keaton.  I always like her hair and it's something I could live with and do -
but again, none of this works on me like it does on them -

And Sally Field.  Okay - this is what I usually end up looking like - I mean, the hair - but I don't like it.  Sally Fields is good with it, I guess.  I think she's adorable, but the hair?  It looks like mine when I am way overdue for a haircut.

So - bangs and blunt cut are what have usually worked for me in the past -
childhood/teens/young adult/old adult

I don't know.  I'll stay with it.  See what happens.

But I liked the girl who cut my hair.

I'm rescheduled in 9 weeks.

Now.
for some cute.
Ellie getting her "hair shaping".
(Ellie's allergies are so bad now and she didn't have as much fun as she could have.  She is miserable with allergies.  During the cut, with the hair in her face, that really cranked them up)

We bought one cupcake to share
and picked out five more to take to Ellie's parents and brothers for tonight's dessert.

I also bought Ellie a pink T-Shirt with the cupcake Logo on the front.
It says something about "I Love Cupcakes".

I forgot to take that picture.

I had fun.  I think Ellie worked at having fun.  Her allergies were a struggle.

Tomorrow morning, early, I travel to Evergreen.

Sunday Night

Big Day on Monday
Ellie and I have a "girl day" in H'ville,  which has been rescheduled from last Monday.
We're getting our hair "only trimmed".
After that, to the "cupcake place" - can't think of the name
but definitely know the location.
I'll take pictures - for a later post.

After that - I'll take Ellie home, to Scottsboro, and I will travel to South Alabama.

Evergreen.

On Thursday, Charlie will join me and we'll travel to Point Clear, AL - to "do nothing" but relax.  We'll ride bikes - we did that last year.  We'll eat at good restaurants.  Charlie will go to meetings - and I will relax, relax, relax.  I'll read.  I'll play brain games on my computer and now with my pencil and real paper.  Looking forward to it all.

Today?  got these pictures late afternoon.  Gorgeous day!  Wasn't it?  Ellie being a wonderful big sister to Andrew.

So - that was this afternoon.

Ann and I were sitting in the kitchen when Ellie took Andrew outside with her.
We saw her entertaining him and I "made myself" get up and get the camera.

Soon after, they joined Luke and Steve at home.

Conclusion

to Isaiah 53

He was oppressed, and He was afflicted,
yet He opened not His mouth;

like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so He opened not His mouth.

By oppression and judgment He was taken away;
and as for His generation,
who considered that He was cut off out of the land of the living,
stricken for the transgression of my people?

And they made His grave with the wicked
and with a rich man in His death,
although He had done no violence,
and there was no deceit in His mouth.

Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush Him;
He has put Him to grief;

when His soul makes an offering for guilt,
He shall see His offspring;
He shall prolong His days;
the will of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.

Out of the anguish of His soul He shall see and be satisfied;
by His knowledge shall the Righteous One, my servant,
make many to be accounted righteous,

and He shall bear their iniquities.

Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the many,
and He shall divide the spoil with the strong,

because He poured out His soul to death
and was numbered with the transgressors;

yet He bore the sin of many,
and makes intercession for the transgressors.

He is the radiance of the glory of God
and the exact imprint of His nature,
and He upholds the universe by the word of His power.

After making purification for sins,
He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Hebrews 1: 3

And with that knowledge and understanding I live out today - knowing that He lives in me -  He is the radiance of the glory of God. He bore the sin of many and makes intercession for the transgressors.
